Health Boosting Resolutions For 2019 | Health | Converge

At this time of year it can be a good time to think about the things that you want to do in the following year. It can be a good time to reflect on the year that you’ve had, as well as what you can carry on doing and what has gone well. But if you want to be healthier and improve your health and overall wellness, then here are some things that you can do to help you to make sure that 2019 is your healthiest and best yet.

Cut the Bad Habits Out

If you have been thinking about doing something like quitting smoking, then now could be the time to do something about it. You can never be at your healthiest if you are a smoker, for instance, so it is time to kick the bad habits. If you have a loved one that is in serious need of something like drug intervention, then it could be one of the best things that you can do for them in the new year to help. When you are free from addictions and harmful bad habits, then you can be on your way to being your healthiest possible.

Set a Caffeine Curfew

There is caffeine in a lot of foods that we have from day to day, as well as drinks, of course. But when you have caffeine too late into the day, it can have a knock-affect for the rest of your day. Plus, if you are struggling to sleep or get a good night’s sleep, then caffeine could be the culprit. When you don’t get enough sleep it can have a massive knock-on effect on your health, so it really does make a difference to get a good night’s sleep, for all aspects of your life.

Self-Care

Taking time out for yourself is a massive part of taking care of your health. It helps you to de-stress and can help with things like anxiety. So make sure that you do have time for yourself and find something that you enjoy and will help you to relax and rest. You can deal with everything in life much easier when you are rested, relaxed, and calm. Self-care is definitely not a selfish thing.

Boost your Magnesium Intake

If you have magnesium in your diet then it can help you to sleep better as it helps to facilitate your sleep-regulating hormone, melatonin. Magnesium can also help to relieve muscle tension, and if you are feeling sore because of something like exercise, then you want to have that relief to help you to rest, relax, and recover.

Exercise

There is a really simple method of getting fit and improving the state of your health. So there never was going to be anything too new or profound. Which is why sleep is on the list; it is still one of the best ways to improve and look after your health. Take it slow if you need to and start by just upping how much you are walking. Then you can go from there.
