Amazon Invests $4 Billion in Anthropic, Makers of Claude AI
Amazon just announced on Monday that it will invest up to $4 billion in the AI startup Anthropic. Anthropic is the company behind Claude, an AI assistant that competes with chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
This investment rivals recent big bets on AI from companies like Microsoft, Google, and Meta. It makes Amazon Web Services (AWS) the primary cloud partner for Anthropic.
The Amazon-Anthropic partnership is perceived as similar to Microsoft’s collaboration with OpenAI. It could lead to some intriguing integrations between AWS and Claude AI.
Spotify Uses AI to Translate Podcasts
Spotify announced a new AI feature that will automatically translate podcasts into different languages. The translations will use the host’s own voice cloned by the AI!
This technology can generate realistic synthetic voices from just a few seconds of sample audio. It’s going to massively change how podcasts can reach global audiences.
The feature will start rolling out in the next few weeks. As a podcaster myself, I’m very excited to see how it performs.
ChatGPT Can Now See, Talk, and Listen
OpenAI revealed an updated version of ChatGPT that has vision, speech, and listening capabilities. Users can now speak their prompts out loud instead of typing. They can also provide images to ChatGPT for analysis.
These new features will be available first to paid ChatGPT Plus subscribers in around two weeks. After that, all ChatGPT users will gain access to live internet data instead of the previous cutoff date.
This major upgrade shows ChatGPT is rapidly evolving. The implications are mindblowing in terms of the human-like interaction it enables.
