Does Your Business Location Tick All The Boxes? | Converge

When you start a new business from home, you can often be worried about whether or not the idea you had will become a success. But, fast forward to today and you might now be in a position where you can consider choosing a new business premises and moving your business forward. Of course, with the new addition to your business, you need to ensure that it ticks all the boxes for you. So here are some of the things to consider to help you make that choice.

Ensuring the office environment is up to scratch

One of the biggest things you have when it comes to your business location, especially when you have staff working for you, is to ensure that the office environment is up to scratch. This means that the office isn’t too cold or too warm in winter and summer, and that the office environment is a pleasant space to work in. Not just aesthetically but also in terms of the atmosphere.

Keeping people safe and secure

The next thing you might need to think about is whether or not you can keep people safe and secure. By that I mean things such as protecting the staff and also your stock and equipment in the vent of a fire. This is when decent smoke alarms can make a real difference to your office, and ensure that everyone is safe and secure within the confinements of your new business location. Other factors to consider would be where people might smoke, or if your location is a little away from other things, a bus shelter might be handy to keep people dry while they wait for transport or taxis. They tend to be lit up so that people will feel more safe at night when standing outside.

Ensuring your business is protected when you aren’t there

Of course, there will be times when you are not at the business. This might be early morning or late into the night. You will want to ensure that your location and premises is safe at these times as well, not just because of the threat of fire, but from the threat of burglars and opportunists. They may want to steal office equipment or your stock, or generally cause damage that could cost your business a lot of money. This is when alarm systems and even security cameras could be great investments for you to make to give you some peace of mind.

Does the location drive enough footfall into your business?

Choosing the location to work from can be a tricky. On the one hand you will want it to pay dividends by enabling your customers to just walk off the street and do some business with you, but on the other hand you will want to ensure that you keep the costs down. You will need to work out the balance of attracting enough footfall, and by doing so, do these business opportunities that pay for the increase in rent and leasing costs because of the position?

Is the location suitable for your needs?

Finally, does the new location suit your business needs? What is it you want it for? Is to work from and store stock? Or will it essentially become a shop or showroom facility to help bring in more business. Knowing what you want will help you make the final decision on the business location.
