Grandeur & Singularity: The Philosophies Of A Luxurious Home

Grandeur & Singularity: The Philosophies Of A Luxurious Home | Lifestyle | Converge

For many of us, we just want to choose the right kind of dining room table, perhaps the best kind of chair that will look nice to our guests but not drain our earnings for the week. Maybe you’re the type of person that wants to buy the best kind of sofa for your home and see that as your only splurge of luxury. It’s little wonder that this is beginning to be the pattern that we see throughout homeownership, corner sofas are more affordable than ever. The way contemporary design has moved has meant that, although you see many designs over and over, replicated or just copied outright, the uses of material are now the clear focus. Luxurious homes have always been one step ahead in this and in style. You see many traditional homes with brilliant materials, only the finest that can be made or farmed. The style is impeccable, timeless and glorious in a way. If you are now at a stage in your life where you can finally build a luxury home, that is perhaps ranging in the millions of dollars, it’s high time you started to read about such homes. You will find that there are two running themes in such homes, and there are grandeur and singularity. Grandeur has already been stapled, we know what it is and how one might achieve it. However singularity is where your own unique design and desires come in, and only you can decide what they are.

Living room space

The living room is the most used room in the entire house. It’s bound to be as this is where one and all can hang out, talk, eat, and even sleep. It’s a room that has to remain versatile even in grandiose homes. This is why space is a big issue for these kinds of homes, because one should never feel as if the room that is most used, is also the most cramped. You would think that they both go hand in hand, and yes they do but they shouldn’t if you’re building a luxurious and grand home. Therefore the living room must has a lot of space, between the sofas, chairs, tables and the walls. The walls should be at least a meter away from the center or the furniture of the room. The center of the room itself must also provide space to walk around and not be impeded, even if there is a coffee table standing centrally. There must also be separation from the sofas, chairs and tables too. Again, the 1 meter rule is the bare minimum that you should be focussing on. The reason for such wide spaces is, to create a sense that the room is large and welcoming. It should be a place where each person can have their own space to themselves but also, one where they can hang out with each other and if they want to get close, then they can.

The glorious lounge

The lounge is not like the living room, and don’t ever think that it is. The lounge is a kind of ‘around the back’ kind of room. If the living room is versatile and for one and all, the lounge is more exclusive and very specific in its use. The lounge is for truly luxurious comfort and where one may whisk themselves away from the rest of the world. It’s a place where only your most loyal and highly regarded companions may come and spend time. Here you won’t find large sofas, you won’t even find coffee tables, and certainly not televisions. The lounge is somewhere where you quite literally, lounge so expect to decide on what kind of chaise chair you want.

Chaise chairs are for lying but also sitting upright, leaning on your elbow and being at total ease while not looking to go to sleep. These chairs are very well padded, with the main design being the classic Chesterfield. The support is going to be curving backward in an almost spiral-like fashion. You can have whatever kind of material you want so long as it’s wool, leather, satin, velvet and of course Egyptian cotton. There are many variations of these materials but so long as there are in this category then you are sticking to the two philosophies.

An Ottoman is sublime for this kind of room, as it’s where you can put your feet up quite literally and not be disrespectful to your guests. Maybe this is one of the clear defining differences between the living room and the lounge. The living room is formal when guests are over, and informal when it’s just you at home. The lounge is always informal up to a degree. Feel free to put your feet up, but don’t lounge around without any clothes on.

Bravely being singular

As you can oh so easily imagine, swimming pools are perhaps now the bedrock of all luxurious homes. It’s just one of those things that you have to get in order to truly consider your home to be grandiose. However, in order to stick to the two philosophies you should now be brave and opt to be singular. Think about your own unique design for your swimming pool. You can of course go for the standard and rather bland rectangle or square shape designs, but would your home be recognizable from the air or from afar it you did? You can draw whatever kind of shape you want and the top swimming pool constructors will build it for you.

The materials used again are incredibly important, as the stone around the pool is going to define the style of it. Consider forms of marble for the inner lining of the pool, and a matte finish around the pool to avoid slips and falls. No doubt you would like a large swimming pool if you had the choice and since you are building a grand and magnificent home, you should go with your true desires. Swimming pools that are large do need more maintenance however, but if you install small water tanks outside your home you can continually refill the swimming pool as the water evaporates from the large surface area. The smallest on offer is 500 liters which is nothing in terms of swimming pool needs. The average size is around 5000 liters but you may also have a fantastic 8250 liter tank setting you up for the whole summer and then some. But imaginative in your swimming pool design, seek to be singular so you have the value of having a truly unique source of leisure in your own home.

The truly modern standard

Once upon a time, in the great manor houses of the English countryside having ornaments that were from around the world was the sign of being truly modern. It’s a sign that one has either travelled or in great wealth of knowledge and experience. Nowadays the only way your home can be see as a truly modern experience is to incorporate the best technology. Technology is now part and parcel of what can be determined as a luxurious home. The best gadgets and entertainment is one thing however, technology that makes your life easier and more comfortable is more important.

Having music all around the home or at least available to you around the home is one such thing that you might want to achieve. The Stelle audio pillar is categorized as ‘smart tech’ as it can be connected via bluetooth and is portable. Place this system anywhere around your home and with just a few swipes of your smartphone you’re able to play music wherever you are. Since it’s small, you can place it in your bathroom on top of cabinets, place it underneath chairs outside on your patio, perhaps even put it in the kitchen next to a plant pot.

It’s a bit odd to have a brilliantly modern and grand house but only then, have to rattle around finding your keys to get in it. Kevo Kwikset is a keyless touch-access key system that allows you enter your home based off of your smartphone. It registers who you are much like a smartphone, except is used magnetic lock systems to keep your home strongly protected. It works mechanically just like any other lock will, but the systems inside it are electronically activated. You open the door using your smartphone after connecting to the system via bluetooth. This is great for when you’re doing something else in another room and you can see on your security cams that your friend or family member is at the door. You can simply let them without having to stop what you’re doing and walk to the front door.

The two philosophies of a luxurious home are grandeur and singularity. Of course there are some traditions and customs that make a grand house. The living room and the lounge are kept separate the spacing is just as important as the fine decor. However the lounge must be for guests you have a close relationship with, allow them to relax and put their feet up. Use modern technology in your home to make life easier, incorporate your smartphone as part of this plan.
