Parenting Is Never Smooth Sailing

Parenting Is Never Smooth Sailing | Parenting | Converge

You’ll realise this from the moment your child is born! It’s just so hard to maintain a home, look after your children, keep your relationship alive, and make sure you’re earning enough money to support your growing family. But at the same time, there’s absolutely nothing better in this world than starting your own family. No matter how family life ends up, you’ve still got this beautiful child who loves you more than anything, and who you can love more than anything as well! But when the going gets tough, it can be easy to come close to a mental breakdown. There’s no guidebook, rulebook, or definitive way that you should be a parent. It’s all about dealing with the issues you face as you go along, and making sure that you make the most of every moment you have with your child until they leave your home. So, we want to show you why parenting is never smooth sailing, and how you can get through any rocky times!

The Pressure On Your Relationship

This is the thing that people seem to suffer the most with. Although you’re expected by everyone around you to become a happy family who lives happily ever after, the reality of this just isn’t true. Starting a family creates arguments because there’s just so much stress, and the normality of a relationship that you once had is stripped away. Nearly half of all marriages end once a family is started, and a divorce lawyer will tell you the main reason is due to the strain having a child puts on the relationship. It’s easy to lose the spark as a child just demands so much times from both of you. Plus, there’s the sleepless nights to deal with, and sleepless nights only fuel a fire on anger. To try and make your relationship work, focus on you time. Have one night a week where you have babysitter and go out on a date. It’s a bonus if you can get one of your parents to have the child for the night, so you can spend some quality time together away from the reality of family life.

The Pressure On Your Finances

There is going to be plenty of pressure on your finances, and it’s all about managing them to ensure you can get through the years without having to plunge yourself into debt. Being frugal is something you’re going to have to learn, and we think this is best done by planning your money down to a T, and ensuring you’re using vouchers for your big shops. As long as you don’t overspend like you probably used to do, you should be fine.

The Rebellion

Getting through the younger years is fine, because it’s all a learning curve. But when they start to get older and rebel against you, that’s when things get hard. To manage this, we would always ensure you’re keeping a strong relationship with your child. Make sure they can talk to you about anything, and resolve arguments by talking, rather than getting all angry and shouting. The best parent/child relationship is one where you can tell each other anything!
