Vehicle Maintenance Tools We Should All Have

Vehicle Maintenance Tools We Should All Have | Lifestyle | Converge

Most of us have a car in this day and age to give us independence and to help us get around where we need to go. If you have a vehicle, you will know that now and again there are checks we need to go through to make sure the vehicle is safe and secure. Today we are going to take this idea one step further and talk about some of the tools we need to keep with us at all times to make sure we are always able to keep the car in tip top condition.

A spare tyre

The first and likely the most obvious thing we need to keep with us at all times in the car is a spare tyre. The last thing you want to deal with when you are in the middle of nowhere is a burst tyre, and if you don’t have a spare in the trunk, you’ll likely end up waiting for hours for someone to come and help you. When you do have a spare tyre in the car you can be back on the road within minutes and it will allow you to continue your day with no issues.

Light bulbs

As you will know as a driver, it is illegal for you to drive with any of your lights broken. The reason for this is that when you have a broken light or several broken lights and you carry on driving on the road, you could end up misleading drivers behind you of your intentions which can in turn cause an accident. An easy way to ensure you aren’t ever in this situation is to keep a set of car light bulbs in the trunk of the car which you can open up and use at any time.

De-icer

Unless you live in a country where summer lasts all year long, you will have to face an icy car every now and again during the winter months. It can be incredibly frustrating when you are trying to rush to work in the morning and you find that your car is frozen over. But before you bring out a kettle of warm water and a scraper, get yourself some de-icer spray. This spray makes getting rid of ice so much easier and it will allow you to continue get into your vehicle without freezing your fingers on the ice as you try to scrape it off.

Jack

As well as having a spare tyre in the trunk for emergencies, you will also want to have a jack which will lift the car up for you so that you can change your tyre if it bursts. You can buy a small jack for cars and a 3-ton floor jack for larger vehicles and this will get you out of some scrapes when it comes to it.

Pressure gauge

A pressure gauge might not be the first thing you feel like you need for the car, but maintaining a good tyre pressure is important for your car and your ability to drive safely on the road. A pressure gauge will save you a trip to the garage and it can be a handy thing to have when you are on the road. You can simply let the car cool down, fill up your tyres and be on your way with no issues at all.
