Excellent Reasons To Take A Staycation This Summer

Excellent Reasons To Take A Staycation This Summer | Travel | Converge

Sure, you could spend the summer in a country abroad. You could embark on your annual summer road trip. And you could spend the majority of your vacation time basking on a beach in a hotter climate than your own. You could do all of these things, and we wouldn’t want to stop you from doing any of them. However, you could ditch the idea of travel altogether and take a summer staycation instead.

Why?

You will save yourself a ton of money

Your average summer vacation isn’t cheap. Roadtrippers will spend a fortune on fuel. Vacationers traveling abroad will spend a fortune on airfare and hotel prices. And there are all kinds of other costs to consider, including medical and travel insurance, as well as the expense of regular meals out and the price of holiday souvenirs. And while there are ways to reduce some of these costs, such as by researching cheaper flights, you have to ask yourself if the stress of travel is worth the money you are paying out. Instead, you could use your travel fund to finally get on top of any repairs in your home or to make valuable home improvements. You could put the money towards a new car, television, or anything else that’s high on your wishlist. Or you could put more money into your savings. Again, we aren’t putting you off going on vacation, but if your money can be better used elsewhere, then a staycation is worth considering.

You will escape the stress of travel

As mentioned above, by taking a staycation, you will reduce the stress of travel. Roadtrippers can avoid the busy summer roads, reduce the chances of road rage under the hot summer sun, and curb the expense of a breakdown or a car or truck accident lawyer should an accident occur. And vacationers abroad can avoid the stress of flight delays, crowded tourist spots, and the burden of heavy suitcases. Now, the stress might be worth it. Taking time away might even be a great stress-reliever. But if you can spend time relaxing in your back garden, and if you can spend time visiting places near instead of far, you might still get time to rest and find peace over the summer, without the disruption of common travel stresses that could overwhelm you.

You can enjoy your home comforts

Have you ever been away from home and longed to return? Many of us miss our home comforts while away, be that the beds we usually sleep in, the people we know and love, or the foods we prefer eating. Now, while a vacation abroad can open you up to new experiences, if you’re really a home bird at heart, then why go away?  On a staycation, you will get to sleep in your own bed, spend more time with your nearest and dearest, and get to eat meals that you know you are going to enjoy. You don’t even need to stay within your comfort zone during your staycation. You could have a night away at a nearby hotel. You could try that new food place that has just opened in town. And you could book yourself onto some fun activities in your local area. There are all kinds of experiences you could open yourself up to, with the benefit that you aren’t thousands of miles away from your home should anything not be to your liking.

Finally…

Far be it from us to tell you not to go away this summer. For you, a road trip or a vacation abroad might be just what you need. But never give up on the idea of a staycation, because as we have discussed, there are some obvious benefits. Let us know what you think!
