The Uncommon Sports That Can Take You Far

The Uncommon Sports That Can Take You Far | Sports | Converge

Do you like playing sports? Maybe you just take part in the five-a-side on a Tuesday, and you enjoy heading out with the team afterwards? Mainly, you’re a casual sports participant, and you consider your outside activities more of a hobby than anything more serious.

Well, as the modern world has shown us, there’s plenty of opportunity for you to step it up a little! Of course, if you’re not that much of an active person, or you feel you’re not ready to become a pro at whatever club you attend on a Saturday, it’s fine to stick to your regular schedule.

But if you fancy taking your running legs a bit further, there’s a sport out there that’s ready for you to become a master! So with that in mind, here’s some of the more uncommon sports you could give a try.

Even archery is quite uncommon these days, so why not pick up a bow and give it a go?

Try Out Unicycling

It’s an uncommon sport because there’s so many people out there who just can’t seem to manage it, or at least, they think they can’t! Unicycling can be quite rare to see, considering they’re not popular pieces of equipment, and are nowhere near as useful as being on a bicycle. However, they’re a great sport to get into, with different track types to try out, as well as championships to participate in.

You could even try mountain unicycling, with special seats and tyres at your disposal, if you get confident enough to take your transport up a hillside with you. Remember, there’s plenty of video tutorials on Youtube, if you’re looking to start a journey like this.

Horse Riding and Racing

Riding a horse is something humans have been doing for thousands of years, and we’ve known for a very long time the use of having a steed to get around. But considering we now use cars and motorbikes and other forms of public transport to get from A to B, horse riding has become more of a sport than ever before.
And it’s something very rewarding to get into, considering it’s still a televised sport you could work your way up to, and don’t let yourself think you’ll never get that far. People like Belinda Stronach have proved new tournaments, and therefore opportunities, are coming out for avid horse riders who are looking to race or jump, and you could even learn to finally understand dressage in the midst of it all.

Maybe Some Lacrosse?

It’s a very American sport, and often played in high schools, but rarely played outside of them. But, as an adult, you can very easily turn your hand to this mix between football and hockey – it’s a great way to start building your muscle mass, if you’ve been looking for an all involved sport that focuses on both your arms and legs.

Uncommon sports are great for people looking for a new hobby, so give these ideas a try.
