When I was about nine years old, my favorite band was Jump5. One of their songs is called “Change a Heart, Change the World.” This song has always stuck with me. It talks about how changing someone’s heart today could change a million other hearts tomorrow. When we help lead someone to Christ, they will most likely lead others to Christ who will then lead even more to Christ. It’s an on-going cycle.
If you want to change the world but feel like you’ll never be able to accomplish such a major task, don’t be discouraged. You can change the world! By changing the lives of others around you, they in turn can change lives. Sure, you won’t be directly changing some of their lives, but it still happened because you took the first step.
Now, it is important to handle this the right way. So many times, Christians shove their beliefs down the throats of others. That’s not attractive to unbelievers. That just pushes them farther away. Start by leading by example through your lifestyle choices. Show them love. God loves them despite their sin and so should you. God views every sin the same, so really, you’re just as bad as they are. Stop putting yourself on a pedestal.
If you get to the point where you tell them about Christ and they reject it, do not push them any farther. You’ve done your part. You’ve shown them how to be a Christian and shared the Truth with them. It is now their responsibility. Focus on planting the seed and the rest is between them and God.
Remember that starting with even just one person can change the world. Start small and watch how God uses your efforts!
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. James 2:10
